Be still my heart!

For a long time, I have tried to lure hummingbirds into our yard, with no success.  I've seen a few dart around the neighborhood on a few occasions, but have never been successful in feeding them.  BUT apparently my lowly, unappreciated morning glories attracted them, because I saw one a few weeks ago feeding on the fragile blossoms.  Excitedly, I put out my hummingbird feeder which, until now, had only attracted ants and bees.  To my great excitement, the hummers started showing up on a regular basis.  And finally this morning I had some time to wait patiently with my camera for them to appear.  They did not disappoint, and were flitting around me and even posing for pictures!  I can't tell you how excited I was!  But I can show you!

So, so, so excited!!!!

What a rare opportunity.. you sure took advantage of it and these pictures are absolutely beautiful.

  2. Oh! I can just hear what your mom would say. In fact, I'm pretty sure she's clapping with joy.

I notice you also got some nice pictures of the aforementioned bees!

    1. Ah, yes you noticed the bees. Only they aren't the real thing -- they are little wasps. Nuisances!!!

  3. Awesome photos of a sweet little female! Yay Kate! (BTW, you can get bee guards to put on the feeder spouts and ant blocks - or put vaseline on the thingy you hang it with and the ants can't cross it) Love your FB note too - Cooooool!

  4. August is always the month that they are here the most- but I finally put my feeder up a few years ago when the neighbors said they get them all summer -so now I do too. just love them!
